In order to successfully deploy carbon capture and storage/carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCS/CCUS) on the scale that the Commission recognises to be necessary in order to meet the 2040 CO2 reduction targets, it is essential that the Member States draw up national plans and support them with regulatory and financial support measures.

1. How many Member States have provided the Commission with such plans?

2. How many Member States have introduced regulatory and financial support measures to promote CCS/CCUS deployment?

3. Is the Commission committed to an outreach and communications programme to ensure that the maximum number of Member States recognise that the achievement of the necessary reduction in emissions from industrial sources may be impossible without CCS/CCUS deployment, and take action accordingly?
