Highlights – Exchange of views on emission trading and carbon border adjustment amendments – Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

The ETS revision aims to strengthen the current text in order to ensure reaching the target of reducing greenhouse gases by 55% by 2050, compared to 1990. The CBAM text also forms part of the climate package by the Commission and aims to address the risk of carbon leakage, resulting from increased ambitious climate targets in the Union compared to other countries. Rapporteurs and Shadow Rapporteurs will develop compromises on the over 1000 amendments tabled to each text in the coming weeks.
