An American climate change start-up advised by Mark Carney, the former Bank of England governor, has doubled its number of staff in the UK in the four months since it established a dual headquarters in London.
Watershed, which sells software to companies looking to measure, report and reduce their carbon emissions, now has 35 people based in the capital, focused on the British and European markets. It has had to move offices three times in the past year to accommodate the growth.
The company is making the most of a mandate introduced in April last year requiring the UK’s largest businesses and financial institutions to report climate-related financial information, the first G20 country to do so.
